When you sit down to create content for your online course, where do you get stuck?

If it’s the technology, then listen up, because I’m going to share the same reality check I share with my clients: That’s completely illogical.

Unless you have your course content completely finished, there is absolutely no point in slowly down progress by trying to learn things you aren’t ready to implement. This is what I like to call just-in-time-learning.

The tech stuff is just how you package your content, it’s not your actual course. Your course is your intellectual property, knowledge, wisdom and expertise packaged in a way that you can teach to others.

The people who consistently produce six and seven figure launches have found a way to synthesize what they know, unpack it and deliver it, so their customers can get results.

I don’t want you to miss out on the amazing opportunities that come with launching an online course – unlimited earning potential, freedom, and flexibility – just because you don’t have all the answers right now.

You’ll figure that out when that time comes. It’s really not that hard (I promise.)

Until then, it’s your job is to stay on course. Here are the three phases of creating an online course.

Phase 1: Content Creation

This is when you validate your idea and complete a course outline with learning objectives and the BIG promise. It’s also the time to create and organize PDFs, worksheets, and slide decks for video lessons, then film and edit videos.

A lot of work that goes into this phase, so it can be very time-consuming. My advice is to not to worry about perfecting every little piece. Your goal is to create a minimum viable product, so concentrate on making your lessons actionable so your customers can achieve a desired result.

Don’t add additional complexity to this phase by worrying about technology. Get the content in place first.

Phase 2: Technology

Time to bring everything together!

This is when all the tech stuff comes into play, such as setting up the membership site, integrating email, and establishing payment options. LearnDash is by far my favorite WordPress plugin for creating online courses.

Phase 3: Sales Funnel and Launch

This is the part that’s kind of tricky because marketing doesn’t follow a linear path.  You should ALWAYS be marketing your online course.

Yes, it’s stressful to build an email list and recruit referral partners while you’re working through the content and technology. It’s important to remember, however, no matter how busy you are, you HAVE to be fostering these relationships and building excitement to launch successfully.
